Azal Medical Compound , a facility that once faced overwhelming challenges and limited support, struggled to provide even the most basic healthcare services, leaving the community in dire need, was recently transformed into an active health service, Thanks to the European Union’s humanitarian funding Médecins du Monde (MdM).
Recognizing this urgent need in Azal District, in Sana’a ,Yemen, MdM activated Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric and Newborn Care along with Primary Healthcare services, seamlessly integrated with Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS).
MdM’s commitment extends to supporting 42 dedicated healthcare workers, including five specialists, by providing essential financial support.
MdM ensures a consistent supply of medications and medical supplies every month, alongside essential operational resources such as fuel, cleaning, and infection prevention control materials. This comprehensive approach empowers Azal Medical Compound to deliver affordable and accessible quality healthcare.
Around 500 antenatal consultations performed with 39 C-sections and 75 normal deliveries each month on average.
In addition, Azal Medical Compound addresses chronic non-communicable diseases with around 350 consultations monthly, while also providing vital MHPSS services to 258 individuals per month on average.
