Since the start of Yemen’s war in September 2014, there are now an estimated 21.6 million people in need of humanitarian assistance and protection services, according to a recent press release published by the Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC).
Yemen’s crisis, the press release added, remains the worst in the world, driven by conflict, disease, economic collapse, and the breakdown of public services.
The Emergency Telecommunications Cluster (ETC) was officially activated in Yemen on 1 April 2015 to provide the communications services which support thousands of responders to carry out their life-saving work effectively, safely, and securely.
The ETC delivers internet connectivity, security communications, and coordinates the humanitarians information and communication technology (ICT) response in Yemen across 10 locations―Aden, Al Mukalla, Al Hodeidah, Al Mokha, Hajjah, Ibb, Marib, Sana’a, Sa’ada, and Tourba.
