The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) signed a joint cooperation agreement with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) to secure the Yemeni Internationally Recognized Ministry of Water and Environment's needs of equipment and devices to contain the leakage of fuels and fertilizers as a result of the sinking of the cargo ship "MV Rubymar" in the Red Sea.
The agreement aimed to develop the Yemeni capacities and equipment to deal with the oil spill and the release of hazardous and harmful materials.
Under the agreement, specialized oil spill response equipment will be purchased to protect and clean environmentally sensitive areas, a remotely operated underwater vehicle capable of diving to a depth of 200 meters, experienced international and local consultant will be provided to offer ongoing technical support inside Yemen for one year and enable organized inspections of the MV Rubymar hull.
