Three landmine and explosive remnants of war (ERW) related incidents were recorded in Hudaydah Governorate during last month (February), according to The United Nations Mission to Support the Hudaydah Agreement (UNMHA) latest Situation Report.

The incidents took place in Al-Khawkhah, Al-Hawak, and Bait Al-Faqih districts, in areas previously documented as sites of recurrent landmine and ERW incidents.

In these incidents, a boy and two men were injured; and a girl, a boy, and one man were killed.

UNMHA Situation Report added that in 2024, Al-Hali, Ad Durayhimi, and At Tuhayta districts were the most affected by landmine and ERW incidents, which also highlights the continued danger for the local population in these areas.

The report noticed that February saw an overall increase in the number of casualties compared to the previous month, underlining the persistent threat posed by explosive devices to civilians in Hudaydah Governorate.

In February 2025, UNMHA Mine Action Team undertook eleven activities in support of mine action efforts. These activities included engagements with mine action stakeholders, non-governmental organizations (NGOs), and UN counterparts.

They aimed at promoting stronger partnerships and strategic coordination to   address the threat posed by landmines and ERW in Hudaydah Governorate.

UNMHA report concluded that the Mission continues to monitor demarcation of the confirmed hazardous areas in the three ports of Hudaydah, Ras Issa, and As Salif as per the Mission’s mandate
